Packers let one slip away late in the Dawg Pound
The Packers fell to 2-1 after their 13-10 loss in Cleveland.
The Packers took a 3-0 lead into halftime. They finally got into the endzone in the 3rd quarter on a TD pass from Jordan Love to John FitzPatrick, but it all came apart in the 4th quarter. A field goal by the Browns, a touchdown after a Love interception, and a blocked field goal attempt led to the 55-yard game-winning FG for the Browns as time expired.
Thoughts about this game:
Points were hard to come by in this game, but the Packers on defense gave up too many big plays on Cleveland’s drive that led to their first FG. On 3rd down, Jordan Love threw a horrible interception. Why do you throw on 3rd down? The ball should never have left his hands. A punt is not the worst thing. At least have Cleveland try to drive the length of the field to beat you.
Just when it looked like the Packers were going to get a field goal and salvage the game, they get it blocked. The Browns just needed to get a bit closer, which they did, and the upset was secured. The Packers didn’t even have a chance to redeem themselves in overtime.
This game reminds me of their home loss to the 49ers in the playoffs not too long ago. Mistakes led to them getting defeated and ousted from the playoffs. This is such a frustrating loss because it’s a game they let slip away. Mistakes were made at the worst possible time. That interception was unacceptable. I still support Love, but that was a throw he never should have made.
The Packers have to learn from this game. This will be a tough one to swallow for a long time. They just need to get back on the winning side next week. They face the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium next Sunday night. Take care Packer fans!
