There’s not much that I can say about this week’s must win against the Chicago Bears that we all don’t already know. But a picture is worth a thousand words.
“The Pack is Back” ! My “Ultimate” prediction has the Packers embarrassing the Bears 34-10 at Soldier Field.
There’s a lot of finger pointing going on over the firing of Mike McCarthy but let’s not overlook the obvious. This firing wasn’t a Game Day decision.
Facts are facts, over the last 20 years the Patriots and the Packers have both entertained having 2 HOF quarterbacks. During that duration the Patriots have been to 8 Super Bowls winning 5 with Brady and coach Belichick. The Packers on the other hand have been to 3 Super Bowls winning one with Favre under Mike Holgrem and 1 with Rodgers and Mike McCarthy. Just ponder over that for a few minutes and I’ll let you be the judge as to why.
Remember back in 2015 when the Packers blew a commanding lead against the Seattle Seahawks to lose the NFC Championship game? That may have been the beginning of the end.
Last season when Aaron Rodgers went out with a collarbone injury, MM chose to keep backup QB Brett Hundley in for the entire time Rodgers was out. Although we continued to lose, MM refused to give our 3rd string QB Joe Callahan a chance, what difference would it have made? After all, we have a 3rd QB for a reason, don’t we? We’ll never know. Why am I bringing this up? It then became obvious that throughout MM’s entire tenure in GB he has had stellar talent leading his team down the field, not necessarily was winning a result of his coaching. I’m certain his coaching skills came into play but the aforementioned leads me to think otherwise.
The Packers, initially picked going into this season as a contender to win the Super Bowl, morning lost to the 2-9 Arizona Cardinals at home on Sunday. Previously having lost their 7 consecutive road games, a win against maybe the worst team in the NFL was a must. Coming away with a loss at home was embarrassing and inexcusable. Something had to happen and it did.
For many years now there’s been controversy about MM’s play calling, clock management and his game day player selection. So now for many of you, you’re quest for MM to be fired has come true.
Sure, I expected this to happen but not during the season, he deserved better than that.
I was at the Arizona game and was disillusioned with the performance of Aaron Rodgers and the receiving corp. An elite QB throwing with such erratic accuracy, star receivers dropping passes from both quarterbacks leaves me wondering if Aaron and others were the driving force with a goal of their own.
I wish the best for MM and his family. To move on from an organization and a community they’ve done so much for off the field is somewhat a tragedy. For that they’ll be many regrets, especially for those at American Families Children’s Hospital in Madison, where Mike and Jessica’s annual fundraising events have raised millions of dollars for children’s health research.
Now comes the struggling 4-8 last place Atlanta Falcons from the NFC South. Under direction of the Packer offensive coordinator Joe Philben acting as head coach, can the Packers win? I’m willing to bet Aaron Rodgers throws for over 350 yards and 3 touchdowns to make sure we do. Can we still make the Playoff? The chances are very slim but with some help, it’s still a possibility. Then again so are the chances of me winning the Powerball.
My “Ultimate” Prediction has the Pack finally winning 37-17.
The Green Bay Packers are set to host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday December 2nd at Lambeau Field. Kick-off is set for noon.
The Packers (4-6-1) are coming off their 6th consecutive road loss against the Minnesota Vikings, losing 24-17 are sitting in 3rd place in the NFC North. The Cardinals (2-9-0) are coming off an embarrassing 45-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and are in 3rd place in the NFC West. While the Packers can still reach a spot in the Playoffs by winning out and some help from others, the Cardinals are out of the Playoff race.
In their last 2 games, the Packers have scored in double digits in the first half but have yet to put up more than 3 points in the 2nd half of each game. The Packer offense has become stag-net. Injuries are still over abundant, another contributing factor for losing. On Sunday night against the Vikings the Packers tied for a season low in points and third-down conversions having only two and set a season low for total yards (254) and net passing yard with (272).
These teams have met 74 times dating back to November 11, 1921. Then called the Chicago Cardinals, the game ended in a 3-3 tie. The last time they met was on January 16, 2016 with Arizona winning in OT 26-20.
The Cardinals were originated back in 1898 by the Morgan Athletic Club and were called the Racine Normal’s until 1901. The name was again changed to the Racine Street Cardinals having entered into the League as the Chicago Cardinals in 1922. The Cardinals are the oldest continuously run professional football team in the Country followed by the Chicago Bears and the Packers.
The Ultimate score this Sunday has the Cards loosing this round 42-15
The Green Bay Packers, (4-5-1) will travel to Minnesota on November 25th, to play the Minnesota Vikings, (5-4-1) in the US Bank Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:05.
The last time these two met was on September 16th this year at Lambeau. The game went into overtime ending in a tie. Controversial calls on Clay Matthews for roughing the quarterback may have been the deciding factor for the result of that game.
The Packers are coming off a Thursday night loss to the Seattle Seahawks, losing by a score of 27-24. Another game that questioned the play calling of Head Coach Mike McCarthy. The Packers scored 21 points in the first half and only 3 points the rest of the game. This was the Packers 5th straight loss on the road.
The Vikings are coming off a Sunday night loss at Soldier Field to the Chicago Bears with a score of 25-20.
Now that the dust has settled after losing our 5th straight road game, it’s time to move on. Yes, like many of you, I put the loss on coach McCarthy. Should I have? Well after settling down and coming to reason, Mike had some questionable calls. However, there were numerous mistakes throughout. Aaron Rodgers was not exactly stellar, missing targets and throwing into the ground. Stupid rookie mistakes costing us 80 yards in penalties and as usual, a couple of questionable calls from the referee’s.
I’d like to toss the injury bug in there as well but that can’t be controlled as the aforementioned can be. I’ve accepted the fact that this year’s team is not the team I expected when the season began.
I often lose sight of the fact that it’s only a game, a game I love and get emotional when things don’t go our way. There’s still plenty of season left and I’ll be watching every minute of every game. All I can do is hope to win out but nevertheless, I’ll stand by my Packers win or lose. Go Pack Go !
If the Packers win against the Vikings, they would be tied with them for 2nd place in the NFC North. The “Ultimate” prediction takes the Pack 30-27.
The Green Bay Packers, (4-4-1) are headed out to Century Link Field in Seattle to play against the Seattle Seahawks, (4-5-0) on Thursday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 PM. They will both be sporting their “color rush” uniforms.
The Packers are coming off their 4th consecutive win at home against the Miami Dolphins with a score of 31-12. Rising star running back Aaron Jones carried the ball 15 times for an impressive 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers threw for 19/28 for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Seahawks on the other hand narrowly lost to the LA Rams 36-31. With only 19 seconds left in the game Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw an incomplete pass into the end-zone sealing the loss. Wilson threw 17/26 for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The first time these two met was back on October 10,1976 and have met 22 times since. The last meeting was on September 10, 2017. The Packers won 17-9.
This weeks “Ultimate” prediction has the Packers winning 31-27.
The Green Bay Packers, (3-4-1) will host the Miami Dolphins, (5-4-0) on Sunday, November 11 at Lambeau Field. Kick-off is set for 3:25.
The Packers, coming off a 34-17 loss that was well executed by the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. The Packers appear to be in need of direction. They were outplayed and out coached as discipline, play calling and clock management appeared to be contributing factors. The loss the week prior to the Rams portrayed the same concerns. This was the second road loss in as many games making five consecutive losses on the road, a steak that we’ve not seen since 2005 when Mike Sherman was the head coach.
The Dolphins overcame the NY Jets late in the fourth quarter with a 25 yard interception run into the endzone by rookie Jerome Baker winning the game 13-6.
There’s not a lot of history between these two teams as they’ve only met 14 times dating back to December 19, 1971 when the Dolphins won 27-6. The last time they met was back on October 12, 2014 when the Packers came out on top 27-24.
The Packers are in desperate need of a win if they want to continue there hopes of a playoff spot. They are currently sitting in 3rd place behind the Vikings over the last place Detroit Lions in the NFC North.
This weeks “Ultimate” prediction has the Packers on top winning 28-17.
The Green Bay Packers, (3-3-1) will travel to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts to take on the (6-2-0) NE Patriots on Sunday, November 4th for a Sunday Night match-up. Kickoff is at 7:20 PM CT on NBC.
The Packers, coming off a disturbing loss against the Rams scored first. The Packers were up 10-0 when a Rams punt was downed late in the second quarter within one foot line of the goal. Instead of passing the ball out of the end zone, Coach Mike McCarthy called a run play that resulted in a safety. That questionable call may have changed the momentum of the entire game, as from then on the Rams momentum took over, scoring 29 points.
Late in the fourth quarter with 2;05 minutes left the Packers got the ball back after a Rams touchdown. With 1 time-out left and the 2 minute warning remaining, it was Aaron Rodgers turn to do what he does best under pressure, win games. However, running back Ty Montgomery(against being told to kneel down)chose to run the ball out of the end zone. As he was tackled early in the run by Rams linebacker Ramik Wilson, he fumbled the ball and the Rams recovered sealing the win with the Packers only down 2 points. Even though the Packers ended up loosing 29-27, as disappointing the loss was, the Packers may have played their best game of season.
The Patriots are coming off their win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football with a score of 25-6.
This Sunday it’ll be Rodgers vs. Brady, the big reason everyone will be watching, but the Packers and Patriots are two of the most popular NFL teams and they only get together once every four years. Since 1993, the Packers have been to the playoffs 19 times, won the division title 12 times, been to the NFC Championship game seven times and have been to the Super Bowl three times, winning two of them. Since 2001, the Patriots have been in the playoffs 15 times, won 15 division titles, been to the AFC Championship game 12 times and have reached the Super Bowl eight times winning five of them. Probably the most recognized game was Super Bowl XXXI between Brett Favre and Drew Bledsoe with the Packers winning.
This will be the second time ever Rodgers and Brady will square off. The last meeting took place in 2014 with the Packers winning a close battle at Lambeau Field 26-21. Rodgers threw for 368 yards and two touchdowns while Brady threw for 245 yards and two scores. The Packers went on to lose to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game and the Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl beat the Seahawks to claim their fourth world championship.
Combined, Rodgers and Brady have six Super Bowl victories, five Super bowl MVP awards, five MVP awards and 19 Pro Bowl selections. Brady has the majority of the awards and accomplishments, but some would argue Rodgers is more talented than Brady, which makes this upcoming game a must-see. With Rodgers coming back from a knee injury he will look to have his best season yet. A win in New England would be big for him and the Packers as they try to get back into the NFC playoff picture.
The Packer and the Patriots first met on November 18, 1973 with the Patriots winning 33-24. They last played on November 30th, 2014 with the Packers winning 26-21. The Packers lead the series at 6-5-0.
This weeks “Ultimate” pick has the Packer coming out on top 34-30.
This Week’s matchup on Sunday October 28th will be a struggle between the (7-0-0) 1st place LA Rams and the 2nd place (3-2-1) Green Bay Packers. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 pm at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.
The Packers, are coming off a good “BYE” week after defeating the San Francisco 49ers last week on Monday Night Football. A game predicted to be dominated by the Packers came down to a game winning field goal by Mason Crosby in the final seconds to seal the win 33-30.
The Rams star quarterback, Jared Goff, threw for 2 touchdowns and star running back, Todd Gurley rushed for two touchdowns and caught a 12-yard pass in the win over the 49ers. The Rams also forced 4 turnovers destroying the 49ers 39-10.
The Packers this week after having been plagued with injury earlier this season hope to come back with a healed Aaron Rodgers, Geronimo Allison and Randall Cobb to put an end the Rams winning streak. The last time the Rams went 7-0 was back in 1985.
These teams have met 94 times including 2 playoff appearances. They played together on October 26, 1937 with the Rams; then known as the Cleveland Rams, the Packers won 35-10. The last meeting between these two NFC rivals was on October 11, 2015 with the Packers winning 24-10. They are tied in the series 46-46-2.
This week’s “Ultimate” pick have the Packers coming out on top in a shootout 37-34.
This Week’s Prime Time Monday Night Football on October 15th will feature a battle of the “Bays” starring the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 at Lambeau Field.
The Packers, (2-2-1) are coming off a poor, sloppy performance against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field, losing 31-23. The 49ers, (1-4-0) are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers are without the potential star quarterback Jimmy Grarappolo; he is out for the season with a torn ACL. His replacement, rookie quarterback C. J. Beathard and company, have been plagued by injury and had 5 turnovers in the loss to Arizona.
A frustrated and at times struggling performance by Aaron Rodgers, along with the help of the Lions defense, fumbled twice. However he still managed to throw for 442 yards and 3 touchdowns. Aaron, playing against a weak defensive front line of the Lions had more than ample time to toss the ball downfield only to be held back by the Lions tough secondary. The Packers entire team, except for Davante Adams, were riddled with misplays and frustrating senseless penalties. Dependable, longtime place kicker Mason Crosby had the worst game of his career, missing 4/5 field goals and 1 extra point.
The Lions, (2-3-0) star quarterback, Matthew Stafford, threw for only 183 yards and 2 touchdowns. Legendary star running back Lagarrett Blount easily powered himself in for 2 more touchdowns setting up the win for the Lions.
Now the San Francisco 49ers are coming to Lambeau Field for a Monday Night battle of the “Bays”. The 49ers, (1-4-0) are sitting in last place in the NFC West tied with the Arizona Cardinals.
These teams have met just 66 times including 7 playoff appearances. They played their first game on November 26, 1950 with the Packers winning 25-21. The last meeting between them was on October 4, 2015 with the Packers winning 17-3. The Packers lead the series 35-30-1.
This weeks “Ultimate” pick has the Packers coming out on top 35-9.
The Green Bay Packers, (2-1-1) will be traveling to Detroit to play the Detroit Lions, (1-3-0) on Sunday, October 7th at Ford Field in Detroit. Kickoff is set for noon central time.
The Packers are sitting in second place among the NFC North, just one game behind the Chicago Bears while the Lions are sitting in last place.
The Packers defense showed up to play Sunday as they surprised everyone with a 22–0 shutout over the Buffalo Bills. The Packers defense prior to Sunday’s game had allowed 27.7 points per game and 386.7 yards of opposing offense. This marked Green Bay’s first shutout since Oct. 31, 2010 against the Jets and was the first shutout posted by the Packers at Lambeau Field since a 26-0 victory over the Detroit Lions on Oct. 18, 2009.
The Lions on Sunday held a tight challenge against the Dallas Cowboys, only to lose in the final seconds, 26-24.
The first meeting between these NFC Northern Division teams occurred in 1930 with the Packers winning 47–13. The Detroit Lions were then the Portsmouth Spartans, changing their name in 1934. The infamous rivalry began in 1932, and have met twice a season since, making it the longest continuously-running rival in the NFL. The last meeting between the rivals was January 1, 2017 with the Packers winning 31-24.
Since the beginning, the Packers have won 100 games and tied 7. The Lions have won 70 games.
The Lions record is deceiving, they are a decent team headed by their new coach. I’m keeping this one close in the win column. “Ultimately” The Pack comes out on top 24-21.
