Colleen Muldoon

Name: Colleen Muldoon

Born in:  Eau Claire, WI

Currently Resides in: Green Bay, WI

Q: How and when did you officially become a Packer Fan?

A: I honestly have to say I was born and raised a Packer fan. My family made it a tradition in the fall on Packer Sundays to go to church, then after brunch, we watched the game together and cheered for the Packers. Practically all my relatives are Green Bay Packers fans. Each year when the Packers played on Thanksgiving we went to my grandparents house to celebrate the holiday and watch the Packer game. My grandma would yell at the TV and she would get so mad if the Packers were not playing well.

I’ve stuck with the Packers as a Die Hard fan through a lot of lean years. It’s in my blood.

Q: Do you get to attend many home games at Lambeau Field?

A: I have attended several games through the years, when I have lived here. Soon after I moved to Green Bay, I went to one preseason game and one regular season game each year. I had the luxury of watching from either a private box seat, club seats or in the stadium bowl. There truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. I’ve gone to many games with my family, my friends, and co-workers. And certainly not as often as I would like too. The waiting list for season tickets is the longest in the league with more than 100,000 names.

Q: What is it like living in Green Bay during Home Games?

A: Living in Titletown sure has a lot of perks and it’s totally insane during home game days. Everywhere you go, the grocery store, restaurants, even in church, every Packers fan is dressed in green and gold! On Green and

Gold Fridays and on game days, some of the employees at the grocery stores and local businesses in town wear their favorite Packers attire. A lot of fans drive around with Packers flags on their cars. When you live in Titletown, it’s a given you do not go shopping on the west side until after the game starts, unless you want to get stuck in traffic. Otherwise, the streets in the city are pretty bare once the game is on. I can get to Lambeau field from

my house in 30 minutes on home game days. The whole surrounding Lambeau Field area is a giant Packers Party on

home game days! Die Hard Fans from all over! It\’s an experience you won\’t forget!

Q: You have been an ICU nurse in Green Bay for 26 years and are currently working at St. Vincent Hospital in the Cardiovascular ICU.  Have you ever taken care of any of the Packers?

A: Yes I have worked for nearly 26 years in Green Bay, and have worked at both Bellin Hospital and St.Vincent Hospital as an ICU RN/Cardiovascular ICU RN.

The only time I ever took care of a Packer player was when I worked on an Ortho floor as a new grad. He was one of the retired players from the 60’s era.  All I remember was how big he was and that he had his knee replaced. Thank goodness none of the players have been an ICU patient where I currently work.

Q: Tell us about your volunteer work with National Go Red Day (February), the Green Bay Go Red for Women Luncheon (May), and the Green Bay Heart Walk held in September

A: I volunteer for the American Heart Association as a member on the Passion committee. As a committee member, I help by asking for donations to raise funds for awareness and research of heart disease and strokes in women. Heart disease and stroke kill one in three women yet it\’s 80% preventable. The first Friday in February is a national day Go Red for Women. Our committee asks Green Bay area businesses to participate in the event and show their support for saving women\’s lives.

The Green Bay Go Red for Women Luncheon is one of our largest fundraisers that is held in May. We mainly ask local Green Bay Area businesses to donate.

I have contacted the Green Bay Packers organization the past 2 years for a tax- deductible donation to help support our cause and our ongoing efforts to help raise money to fight heart disease and stroke. The Green Bay Packers organization has been very generous and they have donated team autographed footballs for our silent auction.

Another large fundraiser is the Heart walk. This past year I was one of the captains for the St. Vincent Heart Center for the Green Bay Heart Walk. Some of my co-workers and my family participated on my team and each member donated to the cause. The Green Bay heart walk is a great way to join efforts to and make it easier for women and their families to live healthier lives.

Q: You have a daughter and a son, how old were they when they became Green Bay Packer Fans?

A: They were born and raised Green Bay Packers fans.I have pictures of both of them as newborns in green and gold outfits. When my daughter was 4 and she saw Brett Favre play she loved that he was number 4.

To this day they are true fans.

This past summer we each turned the same age of some our favorite Packers jersey numbers. I thought it would be fun to have our pictures taken in the jerseys that show our ages. 52, 21, 18. Matthews, Clinton-Dix, and Cobb.

Q: You sell Rhinestone Green Bay Packers Jewelry.  Can you tell us how you got started?

A: Yes this has been quite an adventure! I began selling the jewelry as a fundraiser for my daughter’s high school dance team in 2012. I met the woman who makes the jewelry at one of the dance competitions my daughter and her dance team were in in Minnesota. The Packers bling she was selling really caught my eye that she had as part of her display as one of the vendors at the competition. I couldn’t believe that Minnesota of all places would be a place where I would find such beautiful Packers bling! As I talked to her about the jewelry she told me that she had Fundraising options for dance teams available by selling the jewelry. I got right on it and knew this would go well living in Green Bay. After weeks of seeking approval from dance team Moms, and the school administration I was given the approval to go ahead with the fundraiser. The following school year I began selling the jewelry, with the help of some of the dancers and Dance Moms, to tailgaters at Packer games. It was the bomb!

I continued the jewelry fundraising and have donated the money I\’ve made selling the jewelry to my son’s basketball team and to our High School Sting Cancer Team.

I currently keep a lot of the merchandise in stock. I have also added Packers G bling caps, headbands, scarves, lanyards, cell phone wallets as part of my inventory.

My Facebook page Colleen’s GB Packers Rhinestone Jewelry & Accessories shows photos of the variety of merchandise I sell in addition to Rhinestone Packers jewelry.  I also sell Wisconsin Badgers, Breast Cancer Awareness and Heart Disease awareness jewelry.

Q: Do you collect any Packers memorabilia? If so, what are some of the most unique items? What is your favorite?

A: Yes I do as any Die Hard fan would. I have official Super Bowl XXXI game programs, magazines with Packers news on the front page such as Sports Illustrated, Readers Digest and Time. I also have Green Bay Press Gazette newspapers after the Packers won Super Bowl XXXI. I proudly display the Packer Players Hallmark Christmas ornaments Rodgers, Matthews, & Favre.

But my very favorite memorabilia is the Hummel Figurine of a boy reading the Press Gazette and on the front page headline

Green Bay 35, New England 21

The Lombardi Trophy comes home

CHAMPIONS!

Q: Tell us about wearing your famous Packers scrubs on Game day?

A: I am known at work for letting people know what time the game is on and who the Packers are playing. If there are other staff besides myself wearing green and gold on certain game days, I make sure to get group photos between shifts. I consistently wear my Packers scrubs on game days that I have to work and my co-workers will say “Oh there’s a game today, Colleen is wearing her Packer scrubs!”

Q: Have you had to opportunity to speak with Aaron Rodgers now that he is the spokesperson for the Heart Center at St. Vincent/ Prevea?

A: Do I ever wish!!! He does TV advertisements for St. Vincent Hospital, The Heart Center and their affiliated Prevea clinics. Once I heard that he is our official spokesperson I volunteered to give him a tour of the Heart Center if he’d like!

Q: What is protocol when it comes to allowing patients and employees watch the games on game day?

A: We do not have a policy for employees to watch the games while working, but we are allowed to watch on our lunch breaks. I pride myself on the patient and would not ever jeopardize a patient\’s safety by being distracted when watching a game while I’m working. All of our rooms have TVs for patients and family members. Several times patients and/ or their family members watch the games and they like to keep the nursing staff updated.

Q: How often do you run into players while living in Green Bay, whether it’s at the Gas station or Grocery store etc.?

A: The only time I ever ran into a player was at one of my dentist appointments! And it was on a Victory Monday. I happened to be reading the sports section of the Press Gazette while I was in the waiting room when he walked in!

Q: Who is your favorite player of all time and why?  Who is currently your favorite player now and why?

A: I would have to say that Brett Favre is my favorite player of all time. He put Green Bay back on the map and was a big reason why the Lombardi trophy came home after many years of Super Bowl drought.

My current favorite player is Aaron Rodgers. The Lombardi Trophy came back home. Super Bowl XLV. He is our MVP.

Q: Any last words you\’d like to say to the Packer Nation?

A: I am absolutely honored to have been chosen as one of the elite Die Hard Packer fans! Out of the thousands of diehard fans, I thought “Wow!!! Me?”  I was absolutely surprised and super excited at the same time the day I found out I would be featured in April. My Hallelujah!

Thank you so much to the Die Hard Packer Fan Team!

Packer Nation this is our year! Gotta Believe! Go Pack Go! GBPF4L!
