Kindness Is Never Cold At Lambeau Field

A few weeks ago after the Vikings game, I recognized my friend Jeff Kahlow aka “Tundra Man” on the front page of the Kenosha news. My initial thought was simple, send it to him! A day or two later I reached out and informed him that his iconic image didn’t just appear in the sports section but the front page. I was like, wow that’s pretty cool!

Here’s what he had to say.. “Yeah I do dig it! I never ever look at newspapers, always online stuff. But a newspaper is a great keepsake. Really nice of you to do this Joey”.

Here’s the thing, if you’re a Packer fan, and aren’t familiar with Tundra Man, I would have to question your fandom. His photographed iconic image has literally been used not only throughout the Packer organization but the entire NFL as well.

Through countless Lambeau conversations, I’ve grown to know Jeff at a whole different level. Yes, his outfit is beyond awesome but for those who have been blessed to share a moment with him, he’s more than Tundra Man, he’s a kind man. Very kind!

Here’s the cool part.

Approximately 7-8 days after I sent the Kenosha News to him, I noticed a UPS man leaving a package on the front porch and quickly drove away. Of course, I opened the door to grab the package.  It was a real head-scratcher because I couldn’t think of anything that I would’ve ordered coming in a box like this.

The big moment.

As I started gently opening this package, I felt this glass or metal-type object inside the box. As I pulled this amazing piece out, I could not believe my eyes. It was the most beautiful textured image of “Tundra Man” along with the most thoughtful message one could possibly write.  For a moment it brought a tear to my eye and I’m still not totally sure why.

The moral of the story is this.

Jeff Kahlow never reached out to say he was sending anything, he just did it. He did it out of sheer kindness. Kindness from the heart!  Jeff is not only kind, but he’s also the best kind.

Let’s face it, it’s not every day you receive an autographed portrait from “Tundra Man”.  Especially the week before the divisional round with our mighty Green Bay Packers facing the 49ers in 0° temperatures at Lambeau field. Always remember it’s the little things, folks. Always has been and always will.

Yup, life is good
